Volunteer Overview
  • Complete online application by Thursday, Feb 15, 2024.
  • Volunteers must be prepared to provide and secure their own transport, lodging, and meals.
  • Flexible time commitments are required during the entire production: Sunday, June 9 thru Sunday, June 16.
  • Eligible volunteers will be notified by Monday, March 25, 2024.
  • T-shirts and credentials will be proved by ABFF and distributed at orientation.
  • Professional conduct is always expected: no, scripts, resumes, business cards or photos with talent during shifts are permitted.
  • Festivals require long periods of standing; comfortable shoes are crucial.
  • Khaki or black bottoms (pants, long shorts, skirts) must be worn during shifts. (Bottom attire is not provided by the festival)
Requirements

Volunteers MUST:

  • Arrive in Miami at the location designated in your acceptance letter no later than Sunday, June 9, at 12 p.m. for pre-festival orientation and training.
  • Be available to work the entire production in-person, June 9-16. (schedule varies by department)
  • Have flexibility with the department of your choice which may be different from the assigned role.
  • Be 21 years of age at the time of application submission.
  • Have the ability to receive, read and respond to email, our primary mode of communication.
  • Wear the staff t-shirt (provided by ABFF) and beige khaki or black pants (provided by volunteer), shorts or skirt while working their shift.
  • Only wear staff t-shirts when working their shift.
Volunteer Benefits

We recognize volunteers are essential to the festival. As a token of our appreciation volunteers receive the following benefits:

  • Festival access: Entry to all events (excluding master classes and private events) during non-working shifts and based on capacity.
  • Festival gear: Official ABFF T-shirt to wear during shifts.
  • Refreshments: Grab-and-go light snacks. Refreshments are not intended to replace meals.
  • Daily Parking: Vouchers or a stipend will be provided to working volunteers.
Departments

Brief description of each department responsibilities and roles:

Operations & Logistics
Assist with daily operations, administrative duties, and coordinate logistics throughout the festival.

Sponsorship
Assist head of sponsorship and provide client services for corporate partners.

Programming
Support the production and talent teams to ensure a seamless execution of screenings and events.

Talent Relations
Assist with logistics, credential distribution, wrangling, and navigating talent participants to designated events.

Public Relations
Help with press check-in, office duties, credential distribution, and press communications. Liaise with talent team to arrange onsite interviews.

Registration & Customer Service
Provide customer service and general Festival information to patrons during check-in and on-site sales.

Social Media
Provide coverage including stories, live streams, posts, and video content for all ABFF’s social media and marketing platforms.

Front of House/Line Ambassador
Provide operational support through crowd control, collection, and accounting of tickets/passes at all venues.
