Festival Overview
Three Decades of Storytelling and Talent Discovery
For three decades, the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) has championed the universal appeal of film, television, and digital content created by and about people of African descent. Founded in 1997, ABFF has become one of the entertainment industry’s leading platforms for content discovery, audience engagement, professional development, and the celebration of stories reflecting the richness of the global African diaspora.
In 2027, ABFF enters a new chapter in Los Angeles, at the center of the global film and television industry. Over five days, the festival will bring together creators, executives, talent, media, brands, and audiences for an influential gathering centered on storytelling, cultural exchange, industry access, and community.
Festival programming will span film and television premieres, independent screenings, digital content showcases, talent conversations, retrospectives, panel discussions, master classes, networking events, and curated hospitality experiences. Together, these programs provide a distinctive forum for discovering new voices, honoring established talent, cultivating meaningful relationships, and expanding opportunity throughout the entertainment industry.
ABFF is owned and operated by NICE CROWD, a live-events company specializing in entertainment, culture, and premium live and digital experiences. The company is led by its co-founders, Jeff Friday and Nicole Friday.
